Winged Liner

This is a look I do very often and doesn’t require much. All you need is a nice highlighting eye shadow, black smudgeproof & water-resistant eyeliners and a shimmery beige eye pencil.

I have used this Bobbi Brown Long-Wearing Gel Liner in Black Ink since 2008 and Im still left with so much no matter how much I try to use up :/ It’s my favourite gel liner because it doesn’t dry up as easily as MAC/Maybelline/Kate. It’s been 3 years and it still goes on creamy and smooth.

I used Milani Liquif’eye on both upper and lower waterlines (along outer 2/3rds). Then I smudged on some MM Jewelling Eye Pencil in BE208 on the inner corners to brighten up the eyes. The last step was to pat the Makemania gold shadow on the upper eyelids just on the crease to give extra definition. This is not a natural makeup look, it actually looks very defined and “black” in real life. For something less harsh, I suggest lining thinner and perhaps skip the lower lash-lining.

I received 2 separate compliments from strangers when I did this look yesterday, and it really warmed my heart because this is the first time that someone actually bothered to tell me that my “makeup looks very nice”.

Sometimes it’s really little things like these that make me happy ;)

Barely-there make up!

I did a very simple neutral look today for a luncheon with my family using Kanebo Kate Diamond Cut Eyes in BR3. The sun was almost setting when I got home and basically the lighting really sucked :(

The pictures were actually digitally enhanced for the colours to show up. Somehow the camera + lighting had managed to completely wash out the eye colours :(

It is really quite a subtle, barely-there eye makeup using mostly browns and a black eye liner. I used brown eyeliner for my lower lash line and waterline though to give a look that is less harsh.

Swatched in natural light

Yesterday I did a look using Bobbi Brown Rose Shimmerbrick, so today I paired this eye look with Bobbi Brown Apricot Shimmerbrick which is one of my absolute favourite blush!

This was a heavy swatch in natural light, it really doesn’t show up so orangey in real life.

I think this picture shows the glowy sheen best:

It is really more of a tinted highlight rather than a blush for me, because the more colour you pack on, the more sheen it’d give. It wouldn’t be a bad thing if you are residing in a cold country, but here, it’s always humid so I tend to oil up easily. Too much ‘glow’ tends to make me look like an oil slick at the end of the day.

I Dream of St Thomas

I am not a hard-core NYX fan. When NYX first started getting popular on MUA and Specktra, I was the first to run out and make orders for their round lipsticks, loose pigments and eyeshadow singles which were said to be dupes for many of MAC eyeshadow singles.

However over time I grew to dislike them (for some forgotten reason), and I gave them all away… Until recently I’m back to trying out NYX since  their quality seems to be getting better.

I picked out the NYX I Dream of St Thomas palette at Smoochiezz because it looks like nothing I’ve owned.

The pigmentation is amazing and the powder is smooth beyond words. These are swatched heavily without a base.

Did an extremely quick look using the charcoal grey, the ecru shade and the minty green.

I wish I had skipped the charcoal grey shade altogether because I think the green would have looked so much better on its own :)

I used Bobbi Brown’s Rose Shimmerbrick for this look:

I’ve had mine for years and it’s still as pretty and pigmented as ever.

I love the sheen it gives! However, it has a tendency to emphasise pores so people with oily skin should be careful with this. Otherwise, this makes the perfect rose-pink blush :)
