Apologies for the lack of makeup posts – I’ve been so busy I could hardly breathe! Wanted to take this opportunity to share my skincare routine. I love buying and trying new skincare products and hardly go back to the same items but I have been using these for quite some time so I thought I’d just share my thoughts on them.
Neutrogena Eye & Lip MU Remover: An affordable eye/lip MU remover. Nothing exceptional about it, does the job well enough.
Lunasol Watery Oil Cleansing: Bought during the recent Kanebo sales – feels rather oily in texture but cleanses well enough. This is my second bottle (which explains the rather full content) but I will not repurchase at the full retail price because Origins Clean Energy works just as well at a cheaper price.
Lunasol Foamy Cream Wash: Very foamy and lathers up well. Leaves skin feeling very clean but is dehydrating. Bought this during the sales for only $10 so no complaints. Will not repurchase at full price.
Vichy Normaderm Tri-Activ Cleanser: My go-to scrub/cleanser/mask. I love using this on days when I am recovering from breakouts or when my skin feels oilier than usual. Reviewed here.
Kose Sekkisei Lotion: One of my favourite toners, leaves skin feeling refreshed and clean. Contains alcohol so it feels a tad drying but I always follow up with moisturizer.
SKII Facial Treatment Essence: I don’t use this religiously because I don’t seem to see very obvious results despite being on the second bottle. Provides good hydration though.
Paul & Joe Intensive Whitening Essence: I usually pat this in after toner to help with hydration. It does keep my skin clearer and translucent but it does not help with fading dark spots or scars.
Naruko Tea Tree Oil Out Serum: Helps to control oil on my T-Zone, texture is nice and watery so I need at least 2 pumps for the entire face. Lightweight texture also aids in absorption. Does not help with pimples whatsoever but it is a good enough serum for ladies with oily skin.
Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus: I use this at night to help with repairing and anti-aging. It does help with plumping up fine lines and lines around my mouth. I also find that my makeup goes on smoother and better if I use this the night before. My favourite anti-aging serum up to date and I have used many.
Clarins Shaping Facial Lift: I use this mostly at night but not frequent enough to see significant lifting results because you have to pair it with the shaping massage techniques. Love the texture and the scent though 🙂
Clinique Derma White Micro-C Serum: Meant for spots, pigmentation or scars. It does help to fade scars but it does not fade pigmentation.
Olay Total Effects Day Cream (Normal): My favourite drugstore day cream! This helps with hydration and does not feel the slightest bit sticky despite the creamy texture. Absorbs rather well too which makes it a great day cream for all skin types.
Clinique Super Rescue Night Cream: I adore this night cream because it has the most complex and unique blend of anti-oxidants that helps with aging. The texture is creamy and thick which is perfect for my dry skin especially when I am often inside an air-conditioned environment. Leaves my skin feeling supple and smooth every morning.
L’Oreal UV Perfect SPF50: My trusty daily sunblock. I’ve been using this for many years and it hasn’t failed me yet. Love the texture – it also boasts to be a sunblock, moisturizer and makeup primer all in one. Just remember to apply an adequate amount in order to enjoy the full SPF offered.
Uriage Hyseac SPF 50: A sunblock great for oily skins because this version is oil-free. I wear this on days when I’m at home without wearing makeup on top. This is more lightweight and fluid-y than the L’Oreal which makes it a great sunblock for lazy days without the need for powder. However it does tend to dry out my skin especially after removal.
I hope this post has been useful and thank you for reading!
I was invited for the launch of Vichy‘s new 3-in-1 Normaderm Cleanser which took place at a quaint French cafe at Tudor Court.
More pictures of food that we were served:
What we were there for:
The Vichy Normaderm Tri-Activ Cleanser behaves like a scrub, mask and cleanser all in one. How convenient is that?
Vichy also had repositioned themselves to become the No. 1 Brand on Cleansing and as such had reformulated their cleansers:
What was in our goodie bag:
The new Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel contains a brand new formula that is soap-free, paraben-free and alcohol-free which makes it perfect and less dehydrating for sensitive skins. The new formula is also lighter and less sticky which makes it a breeze to rinse off.
The Normaderm Deep Cleansing and Exfoliating Gel is also soap-free, paraben-free and alcohol-free. It works by unclogging the pores and smoothes skin’s texture while soothing sensitive skin and refining skin texture.
I had already reviewed the Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care here. I prefer this to use on those days when I have active breakouts (time of the month), otherwise it provides insufficient moisture for my dry/normal skin (now that the weather is cold and my skin is suddenly very dehydrated). This is a good moisturizer to keep in your stash for rotation during climate changes/hormonal changes.
Lastly, the STAR PRODUCT of today:
The first 3-in-1 cleanser (cleanser+scrub+mask) for sensitive skin.
1) Cleanser: Thoroughly yet gently eliminates sebum/impurities without drying skin.
2) Scrub: Unclog pores deeply to visibly reduce blackheads/whiteheads and evens out skin, hydrating creamy texture with gentle exfoliating beads
3) Mask: Enriched with 25% natural clay to remove excess sebum to clarify complexion
I couldn’t wait to try it on as a mask!
After 5-10 minutes:
I have always liked the idea of a scrub+cleanser+mask that is heavy-duty enough to rid my skin of impurities + give good exfoliating action but yet has to be mild enough for sensitive skins. It is hard to find a balance between the two and I glad that Vichy has managed to do so. This could also be used daily as a cleanser/scrub! I really like how time-saving this is because the mask dries within 5 minutes so there is no need for me to walk around with a drippy mask that is threatening to slide off my face any moment. Even though this is a clay mask (it contains Kaolin), it applies creamily and spreads easily around the face. I even like to scrub it around during removal so as to further enhance the exfoliation. It rinses well and removes easily but tends to dry out my skin. It is necessary for me to use a moisturizer after that. Is it worth purchasing? A definite yes because it cleanses and exfoliates well despite being mild and gentle. I will probably not use this in the mornings because it is drying (and I usually wake up to EXTREMELY PARCHED skin).

Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care is a product that boasts sales of 20million units worldwide* since 2003.
I have dry/combination skin in general but I do experience hormonal breakouts especially cystic acne on my forehead and chin usually once/twice a month. This is an issue that has been bothering me for a few years now so I am constantly in search of a good anti-acne treatment range that can help minimize these breakouts or at least speed up the recovery process. Imagine my pleasure and glee when I was introduced to the new Normaderm Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care which claims to do all that I want my current anti-acne skincare range to!
Now, we are all swamped by the countless anti-acne products and treatments offered by most (if not all) skincare brands that we can find in local drugstores, and I know how disappointing it is to find out that a product does not work the way it claims to be. So, what makes the new Vichy Normaderm Tri-Active Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care stand out?
Research done by Vichy Laboratories had shown that 3 out of 5 Singaporean women suffer from oily skin and blemishes, and that includes imperfections like outbreaks, dilated pores, redness and shine.
An exclusive discovery was made, and that is to transform imperfection-prone skins into healthy and beautiful skin. It does not mean targeting the sole treatment of imperfections, but treating the skin as a whole, focusing on both a matte finish and hydration.

Anti-Imperfection Deep Cleansing Foaming Cream:
- enriched with salicylic acid which thoroughly eliminates impurities, dead skin cells and excess sebum
- visibly tightens pores, leaving skin purified, smooth and comfortable
This is a very basic cleanser that foams generously, forming a cushiony lather that makes cleansing a very comfortable process. Skin feels thoroughly cleansed after that. It does leave my skin a little tight but I experience this tightness with most foamy cleansers.
Purifying Cleansing Gel:
- double purifying and anti-irritant action
- cleanses and purifies pores while removing impurities
- effectively controls shine
A gel cleanser that lathers and foams easily. It does dry my skin out a fair bit when I used it, so I reserved this for days when I feel exceptionally grimy and oily. I don’t foresee myself using this regularly because of the tightness that I experience after cleansing, but I can see people with tolerant and oily skins loving this because this really makes your skin feel squeaky clean. For normal/combination skins, try the Foaming Cream instead as that is less drying.
And lastly, the star product of the series!
Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care:
- patented Hydra-Peeling Technology that targets and reduces acne, blackheads and redness
- instant and long-lasting shine control
- 24-hour hydrating gel-cream texture that is fast penetrating and easily absorbed
Price: $39/50ml, $19/30ml
I don’t exactly have oily skin. In fact, I battle skin dehydration most of the time. I do face hormonal breakouts though, and this occurs once a month. Therefore, I always have a set of anti-acne skincare range on hand and I will use them during “that time of the month” where I’m more susceptible to breakouts.
I have been using this both day and night in place of my regular moisturizer and I am super pleased. Upon application, this is a very lightweight gel-cream that absorbs really quickly to a matte finish. It also has a very “manly” scent which bothered me initially but now it’s starting to grow on me. It is sufficient to keep my skin hydrated during the day. It is also paraben-free and hypoallergenic – perfect for people with sensitive skins.
However, I find this moisturizer provides insufficient moisture for me at night especially when I spend most of my time sleeping in an air-conditioned (read: drying) environment. Therefore, I like to apply this in the evenings when I come home from work, and apply another generous layer of my regular moisturizer on top of this before I sleep. This helps to replenish and retain moisture in my skin throughout the night.
After a week, I saw a reduction (it wasn’t significant but it was there) in redness around my nose and cheeks so much so that my boyfriend noticed. There were some tiny pimples that formed when I started using the moisturizer but they went away quickly.. So I attributed that to the initial purging process. I did not see any reduction in my blackheads unfortunately 😦
Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of the moisturizer. Both cleansers are good to haves but not absolute must-haves. This Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care is definitely a godsend to acne-prone ladies out there who are seeking a more affordable option that actually delivers what it promises.
