Buy-2-get-1-free with Maybelline/Garnier!

Spotted the following promotions at Watsons:

Garnier & Maybelline were having some sort of buy-2-get-1-free promotion whereby the product with the lowest value will be free! This is a fantastic opportunity to stock up on necessities and try out other new stuff.

These are what I ended up with:

Clear Smooth BB UV White Cream

Eyestudio Eye Color Palette – 03 Gray Pink

I had been wanting to try this new Clear Smooth BB White Cream which boasts of a high SPF50 and comes with whitening properties. I had thoroughly enjoyed using the previous Clear Smooth BB Cream but absolutely hated the Mineral BB Mousse so I definitely have to try this new one out! The other items include the Eyestudio quad in 03 Gray Pink and the highly raved Falsies mascara in Black. All three products are Made in China. I will be doing a full review on these items very soon!

Thank you for reading and have a good week!

Watsons Sightings: March 2012

It’s been so long since I dropped by my neighbourhood Watsons! Spotted some new skincare and makeup products which I find really intriguing:

Dolly Wink display stand

Dolly Wink has some of the most interesting false lashes ever and there are more designs to choose from now. Also included are brow powders, brow pencils and the likes.

Majolica Majorca Lash King is currently going for 15% off, great time to try out their newest products! This is MM’s latest mascara offering which boasts of 5mm super long fibres for well-defined long and volumised lashes.

Garnier Aqua Defense Sensitive

I haven’t been using Garnier ever since my secondary school days (I was hooked on the whitening line) and I’m definitely attracted to the sweet floral pink packaging of their Aqua Defense Sensitive line! The original Aqua Defense line (mint green packaging)  was very popular and I’m sure the Sensitive range will receive warm response too. I love the texture of the Aqua Defense Sensitive Essence (RP: $19.90) – very lightweight and easily absorbed. Certainly gonna give this a go right after I finish my current moisturizers 😉

Gonna end this post with a new polish from OPI Holland Collection that I’ve been wearing all week:

OPI Pedal Faster Suzi!

Watsons Sightings: Canmake + MM

Spotted some new stuff at Watsons earlier on!

Canmake Moist Souffle Shadows:

Canmake Moist Souffle Shadow $19.90

The texture is amazing, super soft and very smooth. But there is a tendency to pick up too much products with fingers because of the texture and will result in flaking (look at the gold swatch). The texture is similar to a souffle mousse dessert; incredibly soft! It feels different from the Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse (from long time back) though because while Maybelline is more moussy, this one feels like cream and does not seem to settle or dry down fully. The swatches rubbed away with a mere swipe of tissue paper and left only the shimmer bits. I wasn’t quite impressed with these despite the breathtaking texture.

Maybelline also had their own version of cream shadows but they were too sheer for my liking:

Majolica Majorca Glass Trick 2011:

New MM winter collection is up in Watsons, comes with a Lash Expander Frame Plus mascara (LE) and Dress Glove Cream which is essentially a hand cream. Also included in the collection are a gel top coat, a beige-y nail polish and 2 tube glosses – one clear with multi-dimensional glitters and the other is a creamy beige/orange with very fine gold shimmers.

Watsons Sightings: Maybelline Mineral BB Mousse + CandyDoll Base MU

Spotted these at my neighbourhood Watsons:

Candy Doll New Base Items:

Liquid Foundation comes in two shades – #01 and #02 – $41.90 each

Makeup Base – $37.90 each

Powder Foundation – $40.90 each

There were no testers available for the liquid foundations, only the MU Base. The MU base is a little too shimmery for my liking and blends clear (under store lights that is). I feel that the entire base makeup range is rather expensive for the quality and packaging isn’t super attractive either. No temptation to buy and try them out.

I also spotted the NEW Maybelline Mineral BB Mousse in the store:

This is quite exciting for me because I spotted this in the latest issue of CLEO and I have been waiting for it. The issue mentioned this will be out in November so it was a pleasant surprise to see this on our shelves so soon.

Comes in only one shade, no tester available yet 😦

This BB Mousse is made in Japan (whereas the Mineral BB Cream is Made in China) so at least quality is assured. Packaging is in Japanese too with English translations of the ingredients list. I cannot wait to try this out because it looks really promising from all the reviews I had read on TW blogs.

Watsons Sightings: Bébé Poshé in Singapore!

Update (15 Oct 2011): Updated with swatches of Bébé Creme and Juicy Muah Sexy Yummy Lipgloss.

Bébé Poshé is a the brainchild of 4 Taiwanese socialites and a celebrity makeup artist and has finally hit our shores. I spotted a Bébé Poshé rack in Watsons today, not too sure how long it has been up already. The testers are all still rather new and untainted so I would say… Not long 😛

Starry Eyeshadows, Perfect Concealers and Sexy Brow Shaper:

Their highly raved Dazzling Eye Pencils:

Bébé Creme:

Juicy Muah Sexy Yummy Lipgloss:

Princess Kiss Lipstick:

Some swatches that I managed to take:

The eyeshadows were surprisingly smooth and pigmented even without the use of an eyeshadow base. However I find the colours very blah and not tempting enough for me to pick up… But we shall see. Eyeliners are a totally different story altogether. They might look average in pictures but in real life they do pack quite a punch. I am missing the swatch of 04 Starry Purple because that darned tester pencil had a broken tip and I could not swatch unless it was sharpened 😦

Lipsticks:

It is odd that the 05 is missing from both the product catalogue and the tester. These lipsticks are super sheer and require several swipes to build on the colour. That is perfectly fine with me because I am not one who likes pigmented lip colours. However, the colours didn’t appeal to me much at all with the exception of 08 Milk Toffee. That is like the perfect balance of pink and coral.

Held off my purchase though because I hate the packaging. The lipstick is housed in a black plastic tube with a jewelled cap that makes it look cheap 😦 And the black tube looks like it will get scratched easily. I absolutely love the colour though… So we shall see (again).

I picked up some eyeliners though because they honestly are of good quality and held up really well. Will do a detailed review on them when I have the time 😉

Watsons Sightings: ZA Impact Lash Mascara!

Dropped by Watsons to check out the new ZA Impact Lash Mascara after all the hyped up advertisements on CLEO October 2011 issue. You can’t blame me, I was the BIGGEST fan of their (now old) ZA Cutie Curl Mascara (as reviewed previously here). I am obviously obsessed with ZA because it’s the first brand of makeup I had purchased from. It’s been 7 long years and I’m still a fan of their 2way foundations and mascaras. Same can’t be said about their skincare and eye shadow ranges though because they totally failed me.:(

In the past 7 years, I am proud to see ZA grow in terms of their product ranges and marketing directions that the company had taken.

As such, when they first advertised their new Impact Lash Mascara on CLEO, I knew I had to RUN OUT and get it so I could compare the new and old in terms of performance.

Here’s sharing some pictures from the brochure for the Impact Lash Mascara:

Some pictures from the new ZA display stand at Watsons (sneakily snapped with my phone so apologies for the bad quality):

current promotional set (ZA Impact Lash Volume + Eye & Lip MU Remover 30ml)

New ZA Ever Brow liners

From Watsons’ in house “Simply Makeup” catalogue where they compiled the recent new cosmetic offerings:

Found this really interesting brand of falsies – PaperSelf (first saw it on sephora.com but now it’s here):

For $23.90 they seem a little steep but the designs of the lashes are really interesting and cute! I can’t wait to see them in stock! I love the peacock design ones 🙂 They are retailing at USD19 on the Sephora website so $23.90 is not exactly all that marked up.

Also spotted some Candy Doll items:

Bebe Poshe:

I am quite impressed with IMM Watsons because they seem to carry most of the goodies featured. Other outlets include larger ones like those at Ngee Ann City, Bugis Junction and Jurong Point. And I’m very happy with the direction Watsons is taking in Singapore, it’s time they realize that there is a huge market here with more local women getting into makeup and a little bit more variation (apart from the usual Revlon, L’Oreal, Maybelline) won’t hurt 😉

Lastly, these are what I picked up today:

ZA Impact Lash – Volume & Long ($17.50 ea)

ZA Eye & Lip MU Remover 30ml (free with Volume mascara)

Also bought 2 x 18ml bottles of Biore Eye & Lip MU Remover at $2 each, these are perfect sizes for travelling!

I will do a review soon on these new ZA babies as soon as I get around to it… It’s a little hard especially when I have 13 mascaras unopened and am currently alternating with 4 😦 I have some serious compulsive buying issue :/
