Swatch & Review: ZOYA Nidhi

Zoya Nidhi is a cherry tomato-red creme with a lot of gold shimmer flecks but they weren’t as visible on the nail as much as I’d like them to.

Color Family: Reds

Finish: Metallic

Intensity: 5 (1=sheer, 5=opaque)

Tone: Cool

Original Collection: Sparkle

Formula was fantastic as with all Zoya polishes I had tried so far. It goes on slightly thinner than usual so it took me about 1 thin and 1 thick coat to get full opacity. This color is bright and gorgeous and has a strong orange undertone to it. Very cheery!

ZOYA Sara

Sara was described by Zoya as “pearls of dark fuchsia, red-violet, and ruby tones in a bright sparkle finish”, which made it sound like something right up my alley!

The description was fairly accurate, but I don’t see much of the dark fuchsia unless I look closely or under certain lights but they are definitely there.

Original Collection: Flame

From the bottle, you can see a copper/fuchsia duochrome mixture but they aren’t visible on the nail. This is so well pigmented and easy to apply, I applied this in semi-darkness and I managed to keep the polish within the lines all thanks to the smooth formula and tiny brush. The brush is really fantastic, some people complain that it is too thin and small but I personally find it small yet firm enough to be springy and to deposit enough colour at once.

This does not appear like a common red, in fact it looks a little more magenta/fuchsia under artificial lights and is really pretty against asian skin 🙂 As such I won’t classify this as a red but more of a hot pink-red.

OPI Ali’s Big Break

Reds + glitter + jelly base = instant hit!

This is the type of reds that I love. OPI Ali’s Big Break is a candy apple red with sparkles in it. I don’t know how to describe it perfectly, and it’s so damn hard to capture with the camera but I LOVE IT TO DEATH.

OPI Ali’s Big Break (3 coats):

There! You can see the glitter flakes in it!

This was a 3-coater because it comes in a jelly base and is slightly sheer. However, it applies buttery smooth and the formula isn’t as thick as OPI formulations tend to be. It is so vibrant and pretty that I had to have it on my fingertips and toes 🙂

The glitter bits are very subtle and is only noticeable in direct sunlight or if you peer closely at the nail. I was hoping this red will bring me tonnes of luck for my first paper in school!

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

One of my favourite reds! I got this when it first launched many many many years back and this never failed to be my go-to glitter red polish. However the formula in my bottle had thickened due to the storage and it was a little bit hard to apply without getting clumps.

China Glaze Ruby Pumps:

You can see how old mine is, judging from the worn out decals on the bottle 😦 I really need a new one or use a thinner to dilute this if I want to keep this 😛

This is red glitters in a red jelly base, it looks amazing in the sunlight. Very festive in my opinion, I totally love this! 😀

OPI Color So Hot It Berns

Color So Hot It Berns was released in Fall 2010 with the Swiss collection, it is a bright red creme with no shimmers. Not a very unique colour but it looks amazing against warm skin tones. It is also a very outstanding red which attracts a lot of attention!

Quite SIA-stewardess-ish colour in my opinion.

Application was flawless, coverage was good with just a single coat. Unlike some cremes, this was easy to apply without any streaks. It is less orange and more of a true red in real life, my camera seemed to have picked up some orange in it.
