EOTD: L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow – Goldmine

It had been such a busy busy month and I trust that everyone had enjoyed a very lovely Christmas as well as the start to a new year! I have been so caught up at work (leaving home early and returning home only after dark) so much so that this blog has been sorely neglected. Also, my old laptop had broken down unexpectedly and I lost a lot of photos that I had taken originally for this blog.

Anyway. I have recently been ridiculously obsessed with these L’Oreal Infallible Colour Eyeshadows ever since I had picked them up in end October. And not long after my last post, I went to pick up Goldmine which I had initially skipped (swatched here) and I have been wearing it a lot for the last month or so. Like seriously. It is permanently placed on my dresser within easy reach and it is just so easy to slap on and go (which was exactly what I have been doing when I was rushing in the mornings).

Eyes: L’Oreal Infallible Goldmine on inner 2/3rds of eyelid, Buck (from Urban Decay Naked Palette) on outer 1/3rd of lid and Darkhorse (from Urban Decay Naked Palette) on outer V, Heroine Make Volume&Curl mascara, Bébé Poshé Dazzling Eye Pencil in Black Diamond, Milani Liquif’eye Eyeliner Pencil in Brown on lower waterline.

This is like my favourite combination because the browns add a subtle definition to the eye contour without overpowering the gorgeous yellow-golden shimmery goodness of Goldmine. Definitely worth picking up if you have not!

Do check out Jacqueline of My Beauty Hoard who has a very beautiful EOTD where she used Goldmine for a pretty gold with a pop of green look!

FOTD: Lunasol Xmas Collection 2010

I know Lunasol recently released a new Xmas collection for 2011 which I am not planning to get because I have too many neutrals in my stash (as can be seen in previous posts), and the latest Lunasol release actually kind of reminds me of the past year’s (2010). Lunasol’s Xmas collections are always produced to satisfy generic mass demand so I am not surprised that it is a neutral palette as well. Anyway, this prompted me to retrieve my 2010 Xmas palette to use because honestly, I’ve only used it less than 10x or so during the past year ever since I bought it and very much lesser for the blush and lip gloss *ashamed*

I have also reviewed it here before.

Drugstore Series: Bébé Poshé Dazzling Eye Pencil

After discovering Bébé Poshé in the Watsons near me, I only picked up the Dazzling Eye Pencils because they really wow-ed me at first swatch. Besides, there was a $5 off their Eye Pencils so it cost me about $12.90 each instead of the usual price of $17.90.

They come in different textures in both mattes and metallics. The longevity of these pencils are amazing and rivals pencils from high-end brands like Urban Decay and MAC.

a variety of looks can be created using different colours

loving the designs on the pencils

Swatches (L-R: 01 Black Diamond, 02 Metallic Copper, 03 Midnight Blue, 04 Starry Plum):

with flash

natural light

01 Black Diamond: Rich intense black with sparse blue/green shimmers

02 Metallic Copper: Rusty copper metallic brown with speckles of gold shimmers

03 Midnight Blue: Creamy dark purple blue with green shimmers

04 Starry Plum: Medium purple with intense pink shimmers

So far, I’m liking them but I’ve got problems with my 03 Midnight Blue pencil. The tip is so soft that it broke before I swatched it. I ended up having to sharpen it but it constantly revealed a tip that was hollow within (wtf?).  And because of its hollowness, the pencil broke when I touched the tip to my skin which was terrible.  This particular pencil is also much creamier than the others so this caused the tip to blunt very fast. I have barely started using this pencil and everytime I tried swatching it, it crumbles to nothing. It is now sharpened to death and I am very disappointed 😦 I don’t know if I had gotten a dud but this particular pencil didn’t impress me very much even though the colour intensity was astounding and the longevity was amazing.

Watsons Sightings: Bébé Poshé in Singapore!

Update (15 Oct 2011): Updated with swatches of Bébé Creme and Juicy Muah Sexy Yummy Lipgloss.

Bébé Poshé is a the brainchild of 4 Taiwanese socialites and a celebrity makeup artist and has finally hit our shores. I spotted a Bébé Poshé rack in Watsons today, not too sure how long it has been up already. The testers are all still rather new and untainted so I would say… Not long 😛

Starry Eyeshadows, Perfect Concealers and Sexy Brow Shaper:

Their highly raved Dazzling Eye Pencils:

Bébé Creme:

Juicy Muah Sexy Yummy Lipgloss:

Some swatches that I managed to take:

The eyeshadows were surprisingly smooth and pigmented even without the use of an eyeshadow base. However I find the colours very blah and not tempting enough for me to pick up… But we shall see. Eyeliners are a totally different story altogether. They might look average in pictures but in real life they do pack quite a punch. I am missing the swatch of 04 Starry Purple because that darned tester pencil had a broken tip and I could not swatch unless it was sharpened 😦

Lipsticks:

It is odd that the 05 is missing from both the product catalogue and the tester. These lipsticks are super sheer and require several swipes to build on the colour. That is perfectly fine with me because I am not one who likes pigmented lip colours. However, the colours didn’t appeal to me much at all with the exception of 08 Milk Toffee. That is like the perfect balance of pink and coral.

Held off my purchase though because I hate the packaging. The lipstick is housed in a black plastic tube with a jewelled cap that makes it look cheap 😦 And the black tube looks like it will get scratched easily. I absolutely love the colour though… So we shall see (again).

I picked up some eyeliners though because they honestly are of good quality and held up really well. Will do a detailed review on them when I have the time 😉
